you know, it’s kind of weird. a few weeks before charlie was born, col and I had some funny things happen to us with the name ‘charlie’. at the time, we liked the name ‘charlie’, but we hadn’t decided on it as the final choice yet for a girl. we were definitely going to use it if we had a boy, but for a girl, it was still up in the air.

about 2 weeks before charlie was born, we were at Unity church for the Sunday service and there was a special guest musician as there often is. this person’s name is ‘charlie thweet,’ i believe. he played some beautiful music, but what stood out about him was his comment about having ‘lots of ‘charlies’ in the room’ (as there are 3 or so charlies that go to our Unity church).

then, we rented a movie called The Last Mimzy. In one scene, Rainn Wilson introduces his class of elementary school students to ‘his friend charlie.’

so, at 11:08 am on 7/21/07, col and I looked at each other after finding out we had a girl, and we said ‘charlie grace?’ after a minute or so, it was decided. our new baby girl was named Charlie Grace Curto.

the “coincidences” with the name ‘charlie’ did not end.

during my two weeks off (which was awesome btw), we rented a movie called the astronaut farmer starring billy bob thornton. guess what billy’s name was - charles ‘charlie’ farmer.

also that week, we watched ‘Friends’ once or twice. guess which episode we watched….the one when Ross meets a new love interest - Charlie.

We wanted to watch another ‘feel good’ movie before I went back to work, so we decided on seabiscuit. Jeff Bridges, one of the main characters, played Charles Howard. and at one other point in the movie during a horserace, someone yells out, “cya Charlie!”

the night before I go back to work, I’m out on the couch flipping through the channels and see a show called ‘charlie rose.’

so, I go back to work (ugh!) and Col stays home. while watching tv during that day, 3 ‘charlies’ end up being on tv on the price is right and two other shows.

lots of ‘charlies’ in a very short amount of time. now, i’ve experienced the whole ‘when you buy a car, you notice that car everywhere’ kind of thing, but i think this takes it to a new level.

someone might wonder why this type of thing happens. i believe that the universe kind of ’speaks’ to you and you’ll hear it, if you’ll just listen.
